Two-Step Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Facebook account. When enabled, you’ll need a verification code in addition to your password when logging in from an unrecognized device.
📌 Steps to Turn On Two-Step Authentication on Facebook
On Mobile (Facebook App) 📱
- Open the Facebook app and tap the menu (☰) icon.
- Scroll down and select “Settings & Privacy”, then tap “Settings”.
- Under Security, tap “Password and Security”.
- Scroll down and tap “Two-Factor Authentication”.
- Choose a security method:
- Authentication App (Recommended) – Use apps like Google Authenticator or Authy for verification codes.
- Text Message (SMS) – Receive codes via your registered phone number.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
- Tap “Turn On” to enable two-factor authentication.
On Desktop (Facebook Website) 🖥
- Go to Facebook Security Settings.
- Click “Two-Factor Authentication”.
- Choose a security method:
- Authentication App (Google Authenticator, Duo, etc.)
- Text Message (SMS)
- Follow the setup instructions and enter the verification code sent to your chosen method.
- Click “Turn On” to activate 2FA.

- Enter your email/phone number and password as usual.
- Facebook will prompt you to enter a verification code from your chosen 2FA method.
- Enter the code and click “Continue”.
- (Optional) Check “Remember this device” if logging in from a trusted device.
